I graduated from Department of Biomedical Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University with a Ph.D. Through my Ph.D. study I applied the knowledge and the techniques of computational geometry and numerical methods to aid surgery and clinical diagnosis. I studied at the Computational Engineering and Robotics Lab (CERLAB), and Biothermal Technology Laboratory under the advisory of Professor Kenji Shimada, and Professor Yoed Rabin.

After graduating, I switched application field from Biomedical Engineering to Geophysics; From the summer of 2007 to the end of 2012, I worked at WesternGeco (wiki) – Schlumberger to develop systems to generate geometric models of Earth’s subsurface structures.

I moved from Houston to Mountain View, California in the fall of 2011. From 2012, I decided to leave the oil and gas industry to venture into a yet new journey as a senior software engineer in a start up company in the heart of Silicon Valley.

I was born and grew up in the city of Yokohama in Japan. I traveled to United Kingdom, Italy, China (including Hong Kong), France, United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, Germany, Norway, and Taiwan. I lived in the city of Pittsburgh of Pensylvania state of United States for 4 years and half during my Ph.D study. I lived in Houston, Texas while I worked for Schlumberger / WesternGeco. In addition to Japanese and English, I speak a bit of Italian and Chinese. While cherishing my Japanese heritage, I am always eager to learn from every culture I encounter, and I am blessed with so many friends with various backgrounds.

I am running several blogs with specific topics. This blog has been set up in May of 2010 to record anything happening around myself. No specific topics in mind upfront, but let it emerge.
